Addison-Wesley Professional has announced the release of Mac OS X Internals: A Systems Approach, a new book written by Amit Singh that explores the depths of Mac OS X in detail.
Aimed at programmers, system administrators and power users, Singh’s book dissects the role of firmware, the bootloader, the Mach and BSD kernel components (including the process, virtual memory, IPC and file system layers), the object-oriented I/O Kit driver framework, user libraries and other core Mac OS X technologies.
The book looks at how these individual pieces connect internally, where they came from, and how they’ve evolved over time. What’s more, it also covers key areas of Intel-based Macs.
Mac OS X Internals: A Systems Approach carries a list price of $64.99. Its ISBN is 0321278542.
