Apple on Thursday released iTunes 6.0.5, an update to its popular music jukebox software that provides compatibility with new Nike+ products and offers a security fix. The new version is available for download through the Apple Web site or through the Software Update system preference.
New to iTunes 6.0.5, users can now synchronize their Nike + iPod workout data to nikeplus.com, where users can track progress, set training goals, challenge others and more.
In late May Apple and athletic wear maker Nike announced a collaboration on new products, including the Nike+iPod Sport Kit, a $29 wireless system that allows Nike+ footware to communicate with the iPod nano, relaying information on time, distance, calories burned and pace.
Apple also noted that iTunes 6.0.5 makes a security improvement that prevents an integer overflow vulnerability. This vulnerability lays in the Advanced Audio Codec (AAC) file parsing code in iTunes versions prior to 6.0.5.
