Aspyr Media on Friday released a playable demo version of Call of Duty 2, their recently released World War II-themed action game. Measuring in at 665MB, the demo is available for download as BitTorrent file — BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing service often used to distribute exceptionally large files.
In Call of Duty 2, players assume the role of different Allied soldiers in Europe during World War II. You start out as a Russian infantryman repelling Nazi invaders, progress to become an English soldier, then an American one, fighting the Germans through North Africa and Europe.
Originally developed by Infinity Ward, Call of Duty 2 features realistic graphics with dynamic weather and battlefield conditions, realistic Artificial Intelligence (AI) and a host of other improvements over its predecessor.
The demo is a single-player game — it features the mission “The End of the Beginning,” which takes place in 1942 Egypt and puts you in the action as part of the British infantry, tasked with eliminating German artillery crews at the docks.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, 1.8GHz G5 or Intel-based Mac, 512MB RAM, 64MB VRAM and one of the following video cards: NVIDIA GeForce 5200, 6600, 6800, 7800 or ATI Radeon 9600, 9650, 9700, 9800, X600, X800, X850, X1600.
