Neuros Technology on Friday announced the release of a new firmware update for its MPEG-4 Recorder 2, a device that records live video onto flash media. It can be used to transfer video to the video-capable iPod, as well. New in this release is improved quality for video going to the iPod.

The updated firmware release provides clearer and sharper video for video-capable iPods, according to Neuros — it doubles the bit rate of video recorded for playback on the iPod, “offering video that is comparable to material on the iTunes Web site.”
The firmware upgrade is free.
