E frontier, developers of Poser, Shade, Manga Studio and other applications, have announced the acquisition of Amapi, a 3D modeling software application, from Eovia Europe. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Amapi is a Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS)-based 3D modeling application that supports IGES, SAT and DWG formats. Amapi is designed to appeal to 3D designers, CAD engineers and others who need to create 3D models. It runs on Mac OS X and Windows.
In April DAZ announced it had acquired US-based Eovia Corp. and was taking over development of Carrara, another 3D modeling program. DAZ also acquired Hexagon and various other Eovia Corp. assets.
E frontier said that as part of the acquisition it will operate an office in Bordeaux, France to continue the support of the Amapi product team.
