Lots of users are transferring video to their iPod, either buying content from the iTunes Music Store and downloading it using their Mac or PC or ripping it to their hard drives and converting it to a format the iPod can understand. Now iLuv plans to cut out the middleman altogether with its i180, coming in August for $199.95.
The i180 lets you record video straight from an analog source such as a camcorder or TV. It supports AV and S-Video inputs, and charges your iPod while it’s transferring video. You can select four different recording time sessions — 30, 60, 120 or 180 minutes, and you can also set recording quality at 512Kbps, 768Kbps, 1Mbps or 1.5Mbps.
LED indicators show you the unit’s current operating status. The i180 is designed to work with fifth-generation 30GB and 60GB iPods only. Included in the box are dock adapters, AV cable, AC adapter, software and documentation.
