dvGarage on Tuesday announced the release of Conduit, a new visual effects compositing plug-in for Apple’s Motion 2. It costs $199; that price includes a three-month membership to Pixel Corps and an hour of video training.
Motion 2 is Apple’s motion graphics software bundled with Final Cut Studio, its pro video editing and production software suite. Motion 2 features “FXPlug” technology that Conduit makes use of — it enables users to create complex new compositing visual effects using a flow-chart style.
You apply Conduit to video the same way as you’d add a filter to a layer. After you create rules using Conduits nodes, the information is fed back into Motion 2, which loops the video in real time so you can watch your effects being created on the fly. Frames can be looped at full frame-rate while you’re working, according to the developers, even with HD footage.
Features include film-class color precision, artifact-free color manipulation, keying capabilities and support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) images.
System requirements call for hardware that can run Motion 2.
