Steinberg took the opportunity at the NAMM tradeshow in Austin, TX on Friday to unveil the next generation of its virtual drummer plug-in, Groove Agent. In addition to an expanded drum library, the new version will also offer new virtual drumming technologies, according to the company.
Groove Agent 3 will feature two new player modules — are two new agent Special Agent and Percussion Agent. Special Agent offers realistic modeling of a real studio drummer based on customized audio recordings, while Percussion Agent plays a range of new percussive instruments in a large range of styles.
Using the new Dual Mode, any two of the three modules can be combined in a virtual jam session.
Groove Agent will now allow users to import their own samples using a new import feature. Separate samples for dry and ambience samples can be imported using the tool, according to Steinberg.
The new version will also include an FX section featuring a new EQ and compressor, with new presets ready for each drum component as well as each kit. A new Alternating Hits feature ensures Groove Agent 3 will automatically alternate samples to avoid repetition of sounds.
Groove Agent 3 will ship in September 2006 for $299.99.
