CME and Yamaha are now shipping their Matrix X five-channel mixer. The Matrix X is a mic and guitar preamp with a 5-channel mixer designed to add a variety of inputs, outputs and level controls to a music production system.
The unit features an auxiliary set of balanced stereo inputs and outputs that can be used to integrate the Matrix X into any system with its own stereo ins and outs including sound cards, USB stereo I/O, sampling synthesizers, digital pianos and other mixers. It also has dual headphone outputs with separate volume controls and a dedicated volume control on the balanced stereo outputs for monitoring.
The companies are also shipping the Matrix Y, a four-channel expandable headphone amp that includes the addition of a built-in talkback microphone.
Finally, Yamaha and CME are shipping the Matrix K, a USB or FireWire based compact audio interface that allows professional recording up to 24-bit, 192 kHz. Similar to the Matrix X mixer, the Matrix K features a mic/line/guitar combo input with phantom power, an 1/8-inch stereo line in, a stereo line out, and two headphone outs. All inputs and outputs have independent controls for dialing in the desired levels.
The Matrix X is available for $109.99; the Matrix Y is available for $109.99; and the Matrix K is available for $179.99 (USB) or $199.99 (FireWire).
