The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile helps users of Windows Mobile-equipped smartphones and PDAs to synchronize data with Macs. The software is compatible with devices running Windows Mobile 2002, 2003 or 2005. It works with Microsoft Entourage and Apple’s Address Book and iCal, and works with other Sync Services-compatible software too, such as Chronos SOHO Organizer and Market Circle Daylite.
Mark/Space claims the new release is the first to Mac sync utility work with Windows Mobile 5, making it compatible with Motorola’s Q smartphone, the Palm Treo 700w, T-Mobile’s MDA Vario, Cingular’s 8125 and other devices. It also works with devices sold by Dell, HP, HTC, i-mate and Samsung.
Released as a Universal binary, this new version runs natively on Intel and PowerPC-based Macs, and also improves synchronization of contacts, calendar events and tasks. A new toolbar provides quick access to frequently used commands and you can also customize the installation of music, pictures and video on your mobile devices.
Mark/Space notes that USB syncing with Windows Media devices is “a little slow” at present, and suggests that Bluetooth syncing may be a better solution for those customers. “Mark/Space will address USB performance for WM5 devices in a free update as soon as possible,” the company said in a statement.
System requirements call for a G4 or better and Mac OS X v10.4.7 or later.
