CyberTouch has announced the release of the Neo 17, a 17-inch (diagonal) LCD touch panel that’s Mac, PC and Linux-compatible. CyberTouch is aiming at the home automation and home theater business — pricing was not available, but users interested in the device are encouraged to contact the company for information.
The Neo 17 is a widescreen open-frame display that uses a force-actuated resistive touch screen. In addition to home theater, it can also be used as point-of-information and digital signage applications.
The display has 450 nit brightness and uses 31 watts to operate. The low-power and low heat dispersion characteristics makes it able to work in walls without the need for a fan or ventilation. An external bezel is optional, and can be painted to match the wall.
The display input is VGA (1280 x 768 pixel) resolution. In addition to Mac OS X support, software drivers are available for Windows and Linux.
