During my 10 days at sea attending the MacMania 4.5 Mediterranean cruise, I’m leading a seminar entitled “What I Did During My Summer Vacation—Making Practical Vacation Projects With iLife ’06.” (And yes, it’s a lot to put on an opening slide.) As such, I’ve been playing quite a bit with the latest version of iPhoto. While doing so I stumbled upon a feature that has me stumped. It goes like this:
Double-click an image to enter edit mode. Hold down the Command key and click somewhere on the image. The Adjust palette pops open and then the Temperate and Tint sliders change—sometimes a lot, sometimes a little depending on where in the image you’ve clicked.
Obviously iPhoto is picking up the color beneath the cursor and then making an adjustment based on what that color is. But, for the life of me, I can’t figure out the logic of it or why this hidden feature exists. (For your viewing pleasure, I’ve put to demonstration shots below—the one on the left is the “Before” shot, and the one on the right is what appears after I hold down Command and click on the image.)
I’ve asked a couple of instructors on the boat who should know, and this is the first they’ve heard of it.
Anyone out there in the non-marine world care to venture a guess?
