Singshot Media on Monday announced the beta launch of SingShot, a Mac-compatible Web service that enables users to listen to, rate and record karaoke-style musical performances and share them with others. It’s a pay-to-play service, with a two-week trial demo available. Costs range from $4.95 to $9.95 per month, depending on payment options.
SingShot features thousands of famous songs, all available legally, of which users can record personal versions, with backing music and lyrics. It works on Macs equipped with Safari, needing a computer and broadband connection — as well as a microphone (if you want to record songs).
SingShot media players can be embedded on blogs, MySpace and other social media sites. SingShot users can share recordings by e-mail, add keyword tags to their recordings and more.
