Red Giant Software shipped Knoll Light Factory 2.5, the After Effects plug-in created by Photoshop co-creator John Knoll. Knoll Light Factory digitally simulates light effects called “flares” that simulate reflections from a very bright light source as seen in a camera&38217;s lens. You see flares most often used to simulate the sun, on text or logos to enhance their appearance, or in special effects explosions.
The new version includes 25 new preset flares, a GPU engine for rendering speeds of up to real time, added controls for Light Factory Spectacular, integrated alpha generation with Knoll Unmult, and host support for After Effects, Motion, Final Cut Pro, Avid, and Premiere Pro.
Knoll Light Factory 2.5 is available in two versions: the $199 Editors edition and a $399 Pro version. Knoll Light Factory Editors is designed for users working primarily in one environment such as Avid Xpress Pro, Final Cut Pro, Motion, or Premiere Pro. Knoll Light Factory Pro is designed to operate in multiple editing and compositing applications in standard definition, high definition, or film.
