Seiko Instruments has announced that it is shipping the SLP 440, a new thermal label printer that’s Mac and PC-compatible. Among the features on the new printer is support for native use on Intel-based Macs with a Universal binary version of the software. It costs $159.
The SLP 4400 features 300 dot per inch (DPI) printing resolution and connects to a host computer using a USB 2.0 interface. Software included with the SLP 440 features “SmartCapture” technology which can automatically recognize info from specific Mac and Windows applications and outputs that data to a label.
Seiko notes that Silex’s SX-1000U and SX-2000WG print servers are compatible with the SLP 440, enabling them to work over wired and wireless LANs.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2 or later and a G3 or better, including Intel-based Macs.
