Digidesign has released Pro Tools HD 7.2, an update to its audio mastering software that the company says includes a dramatically enhanced feature set.
In addition to other changes, Pro Tools 7.2 includes enhancements to both mixing and automation, including new VCA-style groups, pan grouping, plug-in parameter linking, new automation modes and additional new functionality for ICON users, such as VCA fader spill and two-knob surround panning.
Expanded digital video functionality includes the ability to cut video along with audio and create multiple video tracks and playlists within a single session. Users can also bounce audio and video to a QuickTime format — including H.264 — for quick review.
Pro Tools HD 7.2 software includes other features as well, including the SignalTools suite of multi-channel metering plug-ins and a number of usability enhancements, including contextual menus and enhanced fade editing and manipulation, according to Digidesign.
The Pro Tools HD 7.2 upgrade is available now and costs $199. A download-only version is available on the online DigiStore for $175.
