Aspyr Media has released a playable demo version of Quake 4, their Macintosh conversion of the popular first person shooter.
Quake 4 continues the story of Quake II, in which you assume the role of Matthew Kane, a human Space Marine sent to the homeworld of the Strogg, a vicious alien race who kills without mercy and integrates flesh with machinery to create cybernetic horrors. The demo presents the introductory part of the single player game, in which you help earth forces clear a landing zone on the Strogg homeworld.
The hefty demo measures 536MB in size.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, G4, G5 or Intel-based Mac, 1.67GHz or faster processor, 512MB RAM, ATI Radeon 9600 or Nvidia GeForce 6600 or better and at least 64MB VRAM.
