The Web-based service Umundo on Monday announced support for video iPods, enabling its users to view, publish and share video clips taken with camera-enabled phones and mobile devices.
With Umundo, you can capture a video clip or picture using your camera phone or mobile device, and send it to the service. Umundo, it turn, enables you to publish it on My Yahoo!, iTunes, Google or MySpace, to share it on the Web with your friends and family. The service works in the United States using Cingular, Verizon and T-Mobile with Multimedia Message Service (MMS).
Umundo converts the files produced by such phones — typically 3GPP and 3GPP2-encoded content — into a format the video iPod can view (H.264-encoded video). Umundo uses its own “RSS Syndication Engine” to enable tagging, filtering, media format conversion and BitTorrent-based peer to peer sharing.
