MakeMusic on Monday announced the release of Finale 2007 for Mac OS X and Windows. Finale 2007 costs $600; upgrades start at $99.95.
Finale features tools to set up a score, and supports input via a MIDI keyboard, brass or woodwind instrument or imported MIDI file. You can use simple note entry or scanning. You can also use Finale to experiment with automatic harmonizing, percussion and more, then share your results via MP3, WAV and AIFF audio files, or share working Finale scores using Finale NotePad.
New to the 2007 release is support for Intel-based Macs with a Universal binary release. That adds speed and redraw enhancements, according to MakeMusic. Natural Instruments’ Kontakt Player 2 is now integrated, using sound playback technology from Garritan Personal Orchestra.
The new version also features the ability to link parts — you can create and formats parts as as score is created, and they remain dynamically linked. You can import digital video and synchronize it with notation. Another new features include Fit to Time, user-definable frame rates and more.
System requirements for Final 2007 call for a G4 or better; Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, CD or DVD-ROM drive, 800 x 600 resolution, 256MB RAM and 200MB hard drive space.
