Following up the release of their TuneFlex for iPod nano, Griffin has released TuneFlex for iPod, a flexible auto dock and charger designed for full-sized fourth-generation and newer iPods. It costs $49.99.
The TuneFlex plugs into your vehicle’s 12 volt accessory outlet or cigarette lighter and powers and charges the iPod’s battery. It’s equipped with a replaceable fuse to protect your iPod from power spikes and surges. A light at the TuneFlex’s neck changes color to show charing status.
The TuneFlex doesn’t include an FM transmitter, but it does feature a 3.5mm stereo line-out audio jack, to connect the iPod to your stereo. It comes with a low/high audio output switch and a passthrough dock connector so you can use your iPod with Griffin’s iTrip and other devices without removing it from the cradle.
Also included is a cassette deck adapter, so if you’re in a vehicle with a cassette deck, you can listen to iPod music straight away. In addition, Griffin includes a free Limited Edition version of its iFill software, which makes it possible to stream MP3 files from free Internet radio stations directly to your iPod.
