Quark on Tuesday announced that Meadows Publishing Solutions’ DesignMerge software modules now work with QuarkXPress 7, the latest major iteration of Quark’s eponymous page layout software for Mac and Windows. DesignMerge lets Quark users create variable-data output from QuarkXPress projects.
With DesignMerge, QuarkXPress users can create printed documents that feature personalization such as individual name, address and graphics, using a database of available content. Production-oriented features include CopyFit, which fits text into the space it’s alloted, and DesignMerge Rules, which performs specific layout actions based on the content of specific database fields.
Output from DesignMerge can go to any PostScript device, and users can utilize Personalized Print Markup Language (PPML), a new formatting feature in QuarkXPress 7.
