Lismore Software Systems on Thursday announced the release of Guest PC 1.9.6, a maintenance update to their PC emulation software for Mac OS X. Guest PC enables you to create and manage a virtual X86-based computer on your Mac — it works on PowerPC-based Macs. It costs $69.99; the update is free for registered users.
New to this release is an increase in compatibility and stability, according to Lismore. Bug fixes in this version include fixes for occasional crashes and drag-and-drop malfunctions when switching from fullscreen mode.
Enhancements in 1.9.6 include better networking, better video in native resolution modes, improved USB functionality and more.
System requirements call for a G3, G4 or G5 processor and Mac OS X v10.3 or later.
Lismore indicates that Universal binaries for Guest PC are still being worked on — the company has not yet scheduled a release date.
