SubRosaSoft.com has announced the release of FileSalvage 5.0, a new version of the data recovery software for Mac OS X. It costs $89.95 on CD. Upgrades cost $39.95. Subtract $10 from each price for the downloadable version.
FileSalvage restores files that have been accidentally deleted or have become unreadable due to media faults. It works on hard drives, USB keys, Linux disks, Windows drives, Flash cards, scratched CDs and more.
New to this release is a new and streamlined interface, support for Intel-based Macs, an auto file renaming feature and a new bootable DVD. Free space scanning is now supported on Intel-based Macs, which focuses recovery on the free space areas of the drive.
A trial version is available for download. FileSalvage requires Mac OS X v10.3 or later.
