Aspyr Media has released a Universal binary version of its Macintosh conversion of Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Version 1.0.1e is available for download and measures approximately 7.5MB.
Because the software has been rebuilt as a Universal binary, third-party “mods” that use code Dynamic Linked Libraries (DLLs) will likely need to be rebuilt using Xcode, Apple’s own development environment, according to the developer. That means it’s possible that thrid party mods you may have downloaded for Jedi Academy may break until their authors update them.
In addition to Universal binary support, Aspyr has also corrected an issue with the multiplayer game so the application disconnects from servers properly. What’s more, Jedi Academy now uses Apple’s version OpenAL, the audio library software, which allows for positional 3D audio in supported hardware.
