Digital Foci’s Picture Porter Elite is a digital picture viewer with 3.6-inch LCD display. It’s shipping in 40 and 80GB capacities for $449 and $549 respectively.
The Picture Porter Elite is Mac and PC-compatible and uses an internal hard disk drive to storage images and a USB 2.0 interface to transfer data. What’s more, it features built-in memory card slots that make it compatible with most commonly used flash media card formats. It can read JPEG, TIFF, GIF, BMP and some RAW image formats. What’s more, it can also play back MPEG-1 and MPEG-4 videos, WMV 9 and Motion-JPEG movies. It can also play back MP3, WMA, AAC (unprotected) and WAV audio files.
The system allows you to rotate, zoom and pan digital pictures; you can also view EXIF information, play slideshows, and watch what’s stored on the system on a TV using a cable adapter.
The Picture Porter Elite also supports the PictBridge standard, so you can connect it to a compatible printer and print directly without having to use a computer first. A built-in microphone lets you record voice notes, or use it as a lecture/interview recorder. It can also record videos in MPEG-4 format straight from a TV or other analog video source.
The Picture Porter Elite uses a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery, which lasts up to 4 hours for video and 12 hours for music. It weighs 11 ounces and measures 5.3 x 3.1 x 1.1 inches.
System requirements call for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X 10.0.1 or later.
