MXL Microphones on Monday introduced the MXL USB.006, a professional musician’s microphone that plugs directly into the USB port of a Mac or PC. It costs $169.95 and will ship in September.
The MXL USB.006 features a large 24K gold diaphragm pressure-gradient capsule and low-noise electronics. MXL said the new mic is also well-suited to field recording of concerts, lectures and outdoor sounds.
Features include a low-noise front end, 20Hz-20kHz frequency response, and 3-position switchable attenuation pad to control gain. The digital part of the mic features a 16-bit Delta Sigma A/D converter that features a 44.1/48kHz sampling rate. A heavy-duty wireless mess grill with integrated pop filter protects the instruments capsule, and a red LED lets you know that the mic is active.
The MXL USB.006 ships with travel case, desktop mic stand, 10-foot USB cable, windscreen and documentation.
