Logitech’s new Z-10 speaker system attaches to a computer using USB, and features an integrated display that lets you see track data, and a touch-sensitive interface to control music playback. The Z-10 speakers are coming in September for $149.99.
The Z-10 is a 2.0 speaker system — two speakers, no subwoofer. Part of Logitech’s Advanced Peripherals line, the Z10 will work with a Mac, but for audio playback only. The multimedia controls are Windows-compatible only at this time, Logitech confirms.
The Z-10 features a two-way speaker design with one-inch dome tweeters and three-inch woofers. It provides 30 watts RMS output, and sports a headphone jack for private listening. An auxiliary 3.5mm input enables you to connect another device like an MP3 player or CD player.
The right black-clad speaker has its own interactive display that will show you track and artist name, as well as track status. Multimedia controls on the speaker allow you to play and pause music, control volume and select between four customizable Internet radio presents. The display also shows a clock, volume level and other info from the PC.
The speakers work with software drivers that support iTunes, Windows Media Player, Winamp and Music Match.
