Tenon Intersystems, makers of the iTools Web hosting control software, is offering the “Tenon Transition Package.” The company will migrate any production Web sites hosted using Kerio’s WebSTAR software to iTools, which features Apache — the popular open-source Web server. The transition package costs $550 per machine.
iTools is a commercial Web-based interface for configuration and management of Apache. iTools 8.2.2 works with Apache 2.2.2, a later version than Apple includes with Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger.” Tenon claims a 50 percent performance improvement over Apple’s current Apache, and faster still when hosted on Intel-based Macs.
Tenon notes that WebSTAR sites that utilize connections to Lasso, FileMaker Advanced Server, WebDNA, 4D, ColdFusion or Flexmail aren’t a problem, though sites that utilize “legacy add-ons” such as NetCloak may experience trouble — Tenon advises that users contact the company before purchasing the transition package.
The Transition Package includes a single license of iTools, which normally costs $349.
