Granite Digital on Thursday introduced its $39.95 USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE Bridge Adapter Kit. The device enables you to attach a raw Serial ATA (SATA) or IDE hard disk drive mechanism to a Mac or PC using USB 2.0.
Such equipment is handy for field technicians, forensic investigators and others who need to examine the contents or operational capabilities of a raw hard disk drive mechanism.
The $39.95 kit includes everything you need to connect a 2.5-inch, 3.5-inch or 5.25-inch hard disk mechanism to USB 2.0 and power it: the bridge adapter, switched power output, four pin adapter cable and AC power cable. Granite Digital also sells the raw bridge adapter itself alone for $24.95; a universal power supply costs $19.95.
