My iBook is the cat’s meow

What is it about cats and Macs? I ask this question as I ponder the results of my most recent photo shoot (an impromptu session, as I was trying to dash out the door to work). Maybe it was something about the sleek, cool, refreshing lines of the iBook juxtaposed against the sleek, cool line of my kitten, Ruby, that forced me to take a moment to contemplate a beautiful late-summer morning. More likely, I was just a sucker for some spur-of-the-moment cuteness.

But this is hardly the first time one of my cats has posed in a beguiling way with one of my Macs.

Ruby’s big sisters, Lisa and Lila, have both, over the years, draped themselves over my G4 tower, wedged themselves between my monitor and keyboard, sprawled across numerous keyboards, placed four paws strategically on my PowerBook G4 keyboard, making the screen go blank (a real pain), chased the cursor or swished their tails across my monitor (while I tried to work, of course), or powered down my system by stepping on the power strip’s on-off switch.

I could go on. But other Mac cat fanatics have it all over me when it comes to cute. Take a look at Flickr’s Cats Love Macs Pool, and you’ll see what I mean.

Meanwhile, I’m sure I’ll continue to reach for my camera whenever any of the girls pose with my Mac. I just hope they’ll pick a time that won’t make me miss my train.
