Mark/Space has released The Missing Sync for Palm OS 5.1.1, an updated version of their synchronization and data exchange utility for Mac OS X and handheld devices that use Palm OS. The new version is a free update for registered users; it costs $39.95 to download and $49.95 on CD-ROM.
The Missing Sync for Palm OS enables the Mac to work with Palm-based PDAs and smartphones that don’t include Mac synchronization software out of the box. It also provides sync functionality that doesn’t depend on the HotSync software to work. It handles Address Book and iCal calendars, works with Tiger’s Sync Services and much more. It’s also a Universal binary, working natively on PowerPC and Intel-based Macs alike.
The new 5.1.1 update fixes problems by users who subscribe to Google calendars. Category problems have been fixed that were associated with Mark/Space’s conduits that handle Address Book and iCal data. Exception handling is better, custom field ordering is now supported for Garmin iQue devices and other minor bug fixes and improvements have also been made. A complete list of changes in this release is posted online.
The Missing Sync for Palm OS requires Mac OS X v10.3.9 or Mac OS X v10.4.3 or later and a handheld running Palm OS 4 or Palm OS 5. It supports native USB, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connections.
