Miglia Technology on Monday announced TVBook Pro, a TV tuner card aimed at the European market and designed for the ExpressCard/34 expansion slot featured on Apple’s MacBook Pro systems. The system comes with EyeTV 2, the Personal Video Recorder (PVR) software from Elgato. It costs €149 or £99 and is expected to hit store shelves in October.
The TVBook Pro provides the ability to tune in to Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial (DVB-T) television signals, which are broadcast throughout parts of Europe. It also includes an amplified antenna that is powered through the USB interface, in case you’re trying to tune into signals that are a bit weak where you are. It’s also compatible with passive, active and roof-mounted antennas.
The EyeTV software lets you “timeshift” live TV signals by recording, pausing, rewinding and fast-forwarding. You can record DVB-T signals unmodified in MPEG-2 format, or convert them to MPEG-1 or MPEG-4.
