Artistic Techworks on Monday announced the release of Font Examiner 3.0, a new version of their font utility for Mac OS X. New to this release is Universal binary support and the ability to preview and open uninstalled fonts. Font Examiner costs $19.95; upgrades from the previous release cost $14.95.
Font Examiner lets you see all the characters in fonts on your Mac, and shows you the keystrokes required to produce specific character. You can zoom in to see all the details of each glyph; you can also drag-and-drop characters to and from applications, search by name, copy Bezier curves as PDF and more.
New to this release is Universal binary support to let Font Examiner run natively on Intel and PowerPC-based Macs. You can now print font lists, add fonts to a Favorites list; find fonts containing a specific character and more easily browse HTML entities.
A two-week trial version can be downloaded from Artistic Techworks’ Web site. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later.
