Smith Micro Software’s Allume Systems has announced the release of StuffIt, the latest version of the legendary file archival and compression software. It’s available in a $79.99 Deluxe and free StuffIt Expander version. Upgrades are available for registered users of earlier versions.
StuffIt Deluxe 11 is the latest incarnation of the file compression software that has existed on the Mac since the very earliest days. It enables users to create and expand files using StuffIt, ZIP and TAR formats, protects those archives using file encryption, touts backup features, the ability to burn archives across multiple CDs and DVDs and more.
New to this release is support for StuffIt Collections — which let you group related files together — photos, for example, or your latest documents, or your current project. Also new in this version is an archive manager that allows you to immediately display all the StuffIt, ZIP, TAR and RAR archives on your Mac. The software touts improved OS X integration with Automator workflows, 256-bit AES decryption for ZIP archives, JPEG preview image thumbnails, Universal binary support for PowerPC and Intel-based Macs, and more.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4 or later.
