Edge Tech on Tuesday announced its first quad-interface hard disk drive — the DiskGo 3.5-inch Portable Hard Drive with Quad Interface. It features external serial ATA (eSATA), FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0. Prices range from $219.95 to $479.95 depending on capacity; the drive will ship this month.
The Mac and PC-compatible external drive uses a brushed aluminum casing and uses no built-in fan, so it’s very quiet. The chassis also incorporates an “anti-shock chamber” to keep the hard drive mechanism securely in place. It measures 9 x 5.5 x 1.75 inches and weighs 2.2 pounds. All mechanisms operate at 7200RPM, according to Edge.
The drive uses an external power adapter. It comes with data cables and documentation.
The drive is available in 160GB, 250GB, 400GB and 500GB capacities for $219.95, $249.95, $379.95 and $479.95 respectively.
