WebAssist on Wednesday announced the release of a new version of eCart, its shopping cart software for Adobe Dreamweaver Web design software. The new version adds support for Website Payments Pro from PayPal and provides a monthly subscription model for small business who want to ease into electronic transactions. It costs $199.99 or $19.99 to use the subscription option.
eCart 3.7 enables Dreamweaver users to build customized Web sites that can manage electronic transactions. It works on Macs and PCs, with Web sites that use SQL, Oracle and other databases to handle dynamic content and transaction recording.
Adding PayPal’s Website Payments Pro, eCart users can set up Web sites that accept credit cards just like a merchant account, but manage the transactions through PayPal. eCart’s interface for adding the feature is point-and-click — no Web site programming is required.
The $19.99 monthly subscription option requires a one-time fee of $19.99 to activate, and allows merchants to set up as many stores as they like with eCart at no additional cost — useful for lower-volume online merchants who can’t afford to swing the full version’s fee. The plan can be cancelled at any time.
