After a series of updates to its iWork and iLife applications and the release of Mac OS X v10.4.8, Apple on Friday released its hotly anticipated Aperture 1.5 Update. The 125MB update is available for download from the Apple Web site.
Aperture is Apple’s pro photography post-processing software. Aperture 1.5 was revealed earlier this week at a special event that preceded the Photokina trade show in Cologne, Germany. Apple counts more than 20 new and enhanced features in Aperture 1.5.
Aperture 1.5 sports improvements like a new library system that lets photographers store images on other locations besides their boot volume. It integrates support with iLife ‘06 and iWork ‘06 applications; includes a luminance-based Edge Sharpen filter; enhances the Loupe magnifier and uses a new Application Programming Interface (API) architecture that makes third-party developer support possible. Already, photography services like Getty Images, iStockPhoto, Flickr, Pictage and others have demonstrated support for the new API.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4.8. Aperture 1.5 is a free update for all Aperture 1.x users.
