Paradigma Software on Friday announced the release of Valentina Technology Release 2.4.3, an update to its relational database software for developers and business products. This version adds new, advanced SQL features and Universal binary support for REALbasic, the programming language from REAL Software. A free update for current users, Valentina products start at $199.
Valentina includes a line of business products such as Valentina Office Server and Valentina Studio and developer products like Application Developer Kits. The developer describes Valentina as an object-relational database model working on top of the traditional relational database model similarly to how C++ builds on top of the C language. It works with Apple’s Xcode, REALbasic, Revolution and other programming environments.
A new network protocol in this release compresses transmitted records by an average of 50 percent, according to Paradigma. What’s more, packets can now transmit versioning information. New SQL functions include Drop Table [if exists], Create Table [if not exists], and Create [temporary] Table As Select.
Valentine for REALbasic Universal Binary edition enables Valentina developers to create Intel and PowerPC-native code for REALbasic’s new Universal binary release, and Valentina Studio Enhanced — the visual database creation, browsing and admin tool — includes more than 20 fixes and productivity improvements.
