XtremeMac on Friday announced that it will ship its $199.95 Tango speaker system for Apple’s iPod starting on November 1, 2006. Those who pre-order the speaker now will get a free iPod case.
By the time Tango ships it will have been just shy of 11 months since XtremeMac first took the wraps off the system — they announced at at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nev. this past January. It’s an integrated 2.1 speaker system that touts two mid-range speakers and an independent subwoofer in a single enclosure.
Compatible with all dock connector iPods and equipped with a line-in port, the Tango also has an S-Video jack and an A/V line out port so you can hook it up to a television or home entertainment system. The Tango includes a wireless remote control that lets you adjust bass, treble, volume and track selection.
An XtremeMac spokesperson explained that while the Tango works with all dock connector iPods, it will not recharge the batteries of third-generation iPods (iPods that use discrete play/pause, rewind, fast-forward and menu buttons instead of a click wheel).
The power supply is universal and the Tango comes with several international wall adapters.
The iPod case included with Tango pre-orders is XtremeMac’s MicroShield, a two-piece hard case. It’s available for 30GB, 60GB and 80GB video iPods as well as the original iPod nano.
