Quark on Monday announced the release of QuarkXPress 7.0.2, an update to their desktop publishing software that adds new functionality, including a license-transfer feature and typographic support for new languages. It’s a free update for registered users. QuarkXPress 7 costs $749.
QuarkXPress 7 is the newest release of Quark’s flagship desktop publishing and page layout software for the Mac. It features Universal binary support for Intel-based Macs and sports features like “Composition Zones,” which let you collaborate with multiple users on a single layout, and integrated “Job Jackets” technology, which let you make sure that print jobs adhere to specifications.
New to this 7.0.2 update is the ability for customers to deactivate and activate the software without needing to contact Quark Technical Support first. Additionally, the new license agreement lets you run previous versions of QuarkXPress in parallel — on the same machine as the one you’re running QuarkXPress 7. Helpful if you’re dependent on workflows that haven’t migrated to the newest version.
QuarkXPress 7.0.2 adds hyphenation and spell-check capabilities for Polish, Greek, Croatian, Finnish, Portuguese European, Portuguese Brazilian, Russian, Turkish, Catalan and Slovak; as well as hyphenation for Hungarian.
The update is also a maintenance release that contains what Quark describes as “the most important issues reported to Quark” since the product shipped.
