MakeMusic on Wednesday announced the release of Finale NotePad 2007, the latest version of their free downloadable music notation software, compatible with their Finale software.
Finale NotePad is MakeMusic’s entry-level music notation software. It helps hobbyist musicians and students create simple scores, entering clefs, time signatures, key signatures, notes, rests, lyrics, markings and musical instructions. Finale Notepad also provides a bridge for music teachers who want to distribute scores they’ve created using the full Finale package. It doesn’t just let you write music — NotePad also includes more than 128 professional-grade sounds from SmartMusic, so you can play back what you’ve written.
New in the 2007 release is Universal binary support for Intel and PowerPC-based Macs, speed and redraw enhancements (for all Mac users) and full compatibility with Finale 2007.
System requirements call for a G4 or better, Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, 800 x 600 display, 256MB RAM, 50MB hard disk drive.
