Techspansion on Monday released iSquint 1.5, a new version of its freeware utility to convert video to a format and size suited to the iPod. iSquint 1.5 is available for download immediately. New to this release is support for the 640 x 480 size for H.264 videos.
iSquint is a dedicated-purpose Mac-to-iPod video conversion utility based on Techspansion’s more fully capable VisualHub software, a shareware utility that enables Mac users to convert between many different video formats.
iSquint is “many times faster than QuickTime Pro,” according to the developer, and works with almost all popular video formats, including DivX/XviD-encoded AVI files, all forms of MPEG video, and “many other formats QuickTime chokes on.”
A quality slider enables you to adjust the video output quality — you can also manually change settings for the conversion process.
The higher-resolution H.264 videos are the same size that Apple provides for download through the iTunes Store.
