Archway Systems has announced the release of a Universal binary version of VersaCAD 2006, its computer-aided design and drafting software for Mac OS X. VersaCAD 2006 costs $795 for a single seat; site licenses and educational pricing are available.
VersaCAD is available for Mac OS X and Windows and is designed for architects, engineers and others who need to create detailed CAD illustrations. It can be used to help design buildings, facilities layouts, machine parts, process plants, electrical circuits, maps and circuit boards.
The VersaCAD 2006 Universal binary was first announced as in development during Macworld Expo in San Francisco this past January. Archway Systems “soft-launched” the new release in late September and has just officially announced its availability.
In addition to Universal binary support for Intel and PowerPC-based Macs, VersaCAD Mac 2006 features a new DWG/DXF translation engine to help facilitate exchange with other CAD software; more fonts and a few new features like building a group by chain, building a group by duplicate objects, an external modifiable color table, object snap to the midpoint of an arc and more.
