Epson America on Thursday announced it’s shipping its new line of “Ultra Hi-Definition” photo printers, including the Stylus Photo R260 and R380 photo printers and the RX580 photo all-in-one. The printers cost $129.99, $199.99 and $199.99 respectively.
The printers utilize six-color ink tanks and Epson’s “Claria” ink. They produce photo prints at up to 5,760 x 1,440 optimized dots per inch (DPI) and feature PictBridge support for direct printing from compatible cameras. All three printers can produce a 4 x 6-inch borderless photo in 13 seconds in draft mode and a “better-than-lab quality” 4 x 6 photo in 32 seconds. They can print up to 30 pages per minute in black and white. The Claria ink used by the three printers comes in individual cartridges.
The R260 is Epson’s new entry-level photo printer; it can also print directly to printable CD and DVD media.
The R380 adds a 3.5-inch color LCD display and memory card slots to enable you to print without having a PC attached. It features automatic photo correction with red-eye reduction, as well.
The RX580 touts a 2.5-inch color LCD and, as an all-in-one system, features printing, copying and scanning capabilities.
All printers are compatible with Mac OS X v10.3.9 or Mac OS X v10.4 and work with PowerPC and Intel-based Macs.
