Quantum on Monday announced the release of StorNext FX 1.4, a new version of its data management software for Apple Xsan systems. StorNext FX was developed by ADIC, acquired by Quantum this month.
With StorNext FX client software installed, users of applications running on Linux, UNIX and Windows hosts can access Apple Xserve RAID systems managed using Apple’s Xsan Storage Area Network (SAN) software. StorNext FX provides shared storage space down to the file level, so system managers or network administrators don’t need to create storage provisioning for each independent operating system.
New to the StorNext 1.4 release is support for SGI IRIX 6.5.29 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 4.0, Update 3.
The software also supports Windows, Novell SUSE Linux, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, IBM AIX and Cray UNICOS/mp.
