One problem a lot of iPod users discover once they find a case they like: their iPod can’t work in dock connector-equipped peripherals while it’s in the case. Enter XtremeMac’s $24.95 MicroShield case for second-generation iPod nanos. It includes a custom Universal Dock Well insert that lets you keep using the iPod without having to remove it from the case first.
The MicroShield is made of hard plastic and seals using a soft closure. It includes built-in screen and click wheel protection. A detachable belt clip rotates 360 degrees and features a pair of notches you can use to wind up excess earbud cord.
The insert lets the iPod nano continue to work in speaker systems and other accessories that are equipped with dock connectors — the extension allows the iPod nano to work with such devices despite the added dimensions the case adds, which would otherwise prevent the iPod nano from resting in the dock connector space.
XtremeMac anticipates shipping the new MicroShield case in early November.
