Digital Foci has introduced its new, redesigned “Image Moments” digital picture frame — an eight-inch LCD display inside of a picture frame suitable for mounting on your desktop or wall, that accepts digital camera cards and displays digital photos. It costs $229 and will be available starting Oct. 30, 2006.
The Image Moments frame has built-in memory card slots that support the digital memory cards used by just about any digital camera — CompactFlash, MD, MMC, SD Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, xD-Picture card and other formats are accepted (some require an adapter).
The display itself is 640 x 480 pixel resolution; its brightness is rated at 300 nits and contrast ratio is 350:1. Digital Foci measures the viewing angle at 120 degrees horizontal, 110 degrees vertical.
New to the Image Moments design is an interchangeable frame design and easel leg that lets you mount it in landscape or portrait view on your desk. You can create your own custom frames for the Image Moments device using an adapter ring.
Other features include an automatic on/off timer, a security cable lock slot and lockable memory card cover. New file management commands let you copy, delete and rename files. The “Photo Slideshow Mode” lets you scroll through your photo collections. You can also add MP3 soundtracks and MPEG video — all without using a computer.
The Image Moments frame includes a remote control; an on-screen display lets you navigate the contents of your picture card, zoom in for closeups, rotate or pan, adjust brightness and contrast.
The device comes with a standard black frame, AC power adapter, remote control and documentation. Additional frames cost $19.95.
