C-Command has updated SpamSieve, its Bayesian spam filtering software for Mac OS X, to version 2.5. The new update is free for registered users; SpamSieve costs $30 to register.
SpamSieve is designed to augment your own e-mail software’s built-in junk mail filtering by employing Bayesian filtering technology as well. It moves the suspected spam into a separate folder that you can review later.
The parser and classifiers have changed with version 2.5 to improve accuracy, according to the developer. The in-memory “corpus” representation is more efficient, as well — that leads to better performance and less memory use. The software update feature has been rewritten, SpamSieve better parses words that have been misspelled, and auto-training now places a higher priority on corpus balance.
SpamSieve requires Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later and is a Universal binary.
