SoundTech Professional Audio on Tuesday introduced their $69.99 LightSnake USB intelligent microphone cable. The cable plugs into your Mac’s (or PC’s) USB port and lets you use a pro microphone that features an XLR-style tip.
Like other LightSnake cable products, the LightSnake USB cable features “live when lit” technology — its ends glow and flash when sound is being transmitted.
The cable works with GarageBand and other software designed to accept audio input from an outside source — it can be used for podcasting or music-making; it features a built-in analog/digital conversion chip with audio signal boost. The heavy-duty, shielded cable measures 10 feet long.
Compliant with USB 2.0 and designed for plug-and-play use, it’s compatible with Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and various flavors of Windows without requiring additional drivers to be installed.
SoundTech’s Web site was not updated with information about the new USB cable as Macworld posted this article.
