Kinoma on Wednesday introduced Kinoma Producer 4, a desktop application for Mac OS X and Windows that enables users to convert video content to formats playable on mobile devices including Palm handhelds, Sony PlayStation Portables and the iPod. It costs $29.99.
The software includes presets for over 40 devices, to save you from having to specify audio and video compression settings. It features support for MPEG-4 video, H.264 (AVC), AAC audio and Windows Media 9. You can also compress files for streamed delivery over a standard Web site, so visitors coming to your site using a handheld device can watch content optimized for their systems.
It’s available as a Universal binary that runs natively on Intel and PowerPC-based Macs. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, 64MB RAM and 5MB hard disk space, as well as QuickTime 7.0.4 or later. A trial version is available.
Kinoma Producer 4 was designed to work hand-in-hand with a $24.99 application for Palm handsets called Kinoma Player 4 EX. The player application supports MP3, Windows Media 9, Flash video, MPEG-4 and RTSP, features a built-in media guide, support for streaming Internet radio, Google video and YouTube, and more.
